The Taming of the Shrew - Press Release

OPENING HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO SATURDAY AUGUST 15TH WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE’S THE TAMING OF THE SHREW - AUGUST 15TH - AUGUST 29TH

For the 2009 season, A Small Company In America (ASCIA) is pleased to present William Shakespeare‘s The Taming of the Shrew. The production is being directed by Port Washington’s own Scott E. Jarvis with a great cast of new and veteran ASCIA members. As seen in Newsday, director Scott E. Jarvis is quoted as saying, “that this production will include the rarely seen Induction. It begins with another story entirely, so it’s a play within a play. In this version, a sleeping drunkard is taken to a manor and duped by the lord of the manse into thinking he’s been asleep for 16 years. In the midst of this, the lord has a group of traveling actors perform the play we know as ‘The Taming of the Shrew’”.

The cast includes Susan L. Blake (Glen Cove), Courtney Connolly (Rockville Centre), Jesse Lee Combs (Lindenhurst) Arielle Harding (Mill Neck), Anthony Mattera (Holbrook), Ashley Mattera (Holbrook), Karl K. Melissen (Deer Park), Greg Moller (Levittown), Jack Morris (Amityville), Brian Rossi (Levittown), Michael Schlapp (West Hempstead), Paul Wallace (Franklin Square) and Stephen T. Wagner (Hicksville).

This production will be presented in ASCIA’s home in the New York Institute of Technology’s Old Westbury Campus. The theater is located in Salten Hall.
